The Trinity College Choir was invited to participate in the rare opportunity of performing with internationally renowned musicians. The Trinity College Choir was the only ‘outstation choir’ joining the top school choirs in Colombo such as St. Thomas’, Ladies’, Bishop’s, St. Joseph’s and the adult choirs – the Cathedral Choir and ‘Oktave’. This was probably one of the greatest choral events of this nature and scale in recent times.
Musical accompaniment was provided by an orchestra played by accomplished musicians joined by the grand digital organ.
The organists for the evening were Dr. Jonathan Clarke (London), and Neranjan De Silva (Sri Lanka), and the conductor was Battista Pradal (Italy).
Led by the versatile duo, The De Lanerolle Brothers, the evening consisted of a variety of choral pieces with arrangements and orchestrations written for choir and orchestra by the organists and conductor.
This was another step forward for The Trinity College Choir which continues to be commended by celebrated musicians, both national and international, for maintaining high standards of choral and other forms of music, continuing a tradition as old as the school itself.
