The Trinity College weightlifting team emerged as overall champions at the Central Province School Games, held at Dharmaraja College, Kandy, on 20 and 21 June. The team produced an impressive performance across both age categories, securing a total of 45 points to claim the Central Province championship.
Under 17
The Under 17 team delivered a strong performance, with the following results:
- Dhiren de Seram, 2nd place, 61 kg
- Vidupa Rajanayake, 3rd place, 61 kg
- Kavirshnu Vijaykumar, 1st place, 67 kg
- Pankaja Wickramasinghe, 1st place, 102+ kg
- The team was crowned Under 17 age category champions.
Under 20
The Under 20 team continued the College’s success with several outstanding performances:
- Ronal Weerasekara, 2nd place, 61 kg
- Sithnuka Rathnayake, 1st place, 73 kg
- Yasan Kavsidu, 1st place, 81 kg
- Joshua Kottage, 1st place, 89 kg
- Nethula Hettihewage, 2nd place, 89 kg
- Kumath Epa, 1st place, 109 kg
- Sadil Angammana, 1st place, 109+ kg
- Ravishka Dissanayake, 2nd place, 109+ kg
The Under 20 team was also crowned age category champions.
In addition, Master Sithnuka Rathnayake was adjudged the Best Lifter in the Under 20 age category, recognising his outstanding performance at the championship.
Trinity College congratulates all the weightlifters on their achievements and extends its sincere appreciation to Coach Mr Manjula Wijerathne and Master-in-Charge Mr Kamal Nissanka for their dedicated guidance and leadership. Their commitment has played an important role in the continued development and success of the weightlifting at College.
