The Trinity Boxing team emerged as Runners up and won the ‘D.D.C Munasinghe Trophy’ at the recently concluded 45th L.V Jayaweera All Island Boxing Tournament 2018.
The event was held at Dheerananda MMV, Pilimathalawa under the patronage of Sports Minister, Central Province, Thilina Tennekoon.
The team secured 3 Gold medals and a Bronze medal during the course of the 5 day tournament.
The Gold medals were won by:
• Themiya Herath – 39kg-41kg (13-14 years)
• Waruna Bandara – 41kg-43kg (13-14 years)
• Hamdan Faizal – 43kg-45kg (13-14 years)
The Bronze medal was won by:
• Kamal Denegama – 56kg-60kg (17-18 years)
Our sincere gratitude goes to the coaches of Trinity Boxing, Mr. Susantha Weerasena, Mr. Lahiru Senarathne, Mr. Manju Wanniarachchi, Mr. Damith Wijerathne and the master in charge Mr. Aslam Marikar for their guidance and support offered to the Boxing team throughout the year.
The best boxers award was won by Mahanama College, Colombo, who were able to bag the winners title as well.
