Trinity College Weightlifting Team once again commemorated victory at the All-Island Schools’ Games 2023, emerging Under 17, Under 20 and Overall Champions. The meet was held at Royal College, Polonnaruwa from September 16th to 18th.
The under-17 squad, brimming with young talent, lived up to their promise by clinching the Age Group Championship. Dominating their category, they secured a total of 13 points, earning them the coveted top spot. Royal College, Polonnaruwa, with 11 points, settled for the 1st runner-up position.
Not to be outdone, the under-20 team delivered a magnificent performance, comfortably securing 1st place with a 2-point lead. They tallied impressive 14 points, outshining Maliyadeva Vidyalaya, Kurunegala, who took the second spot with 12 points.

Under 20
73kg – Abidh Jameel (3rd Place)
89kg – Chamod Dehigama (1st Place)

109kg – Hashendra Wijethilake (1st Place)
The triumphant team, boasting a total score of 27 points, was capably led by the captain, Master Abidh Jameel. This victory adds yet another jewel to the weightlifting team’s crown of championship, continuing to bring honour and pride to Trinity.
The team extends their heartfelt appreciation to the Coach Mr. M. Wijerathne and the tireless MIC Mr. K. Galagoda for their unwavering support in guiding the team to peak performance. With weights lifted and records shattered, Trinity College’s weightlifting prowess continues to radiate the sporting spirit at Trinity!
