The Young Inventors’ and Researchers’ Club (YIRC) embarked on its journey to ignite curiosity and innovation with the first workshop in the “Inquisitive Minds: Illuminate Think, Create, Discover” series. The workshop, titled “Introduction to Research and the Research Culture,” unfolded on a bright October day, the 13th, at the Laxman Kadirgamar Auditorium. We initially aimed to inspire our upper-school students, but to our delight, even our middle school counterparts eagerly participated in this enriching event.
The heart and soul of our workshop series, Mr. Ruchira Gangahagedara, our esteemed middle school teacher, graced us with his presence. His extensive experience and profound insights in the field of research, coupled with a notable portfolio of research publications, made him the ideal resource person for this inaugural event.
Throughout the workshop, Mr. Gangahagedara took us on a mesmerizing journey into the world of research. He shared invaluable knowledge, motivating us to delve deeper into the fascinating realm of research. As we soaked in his wisdom, we discovered the true essence of research – it is not just about data and methodology; it is about fostering a positive mindset, nurturing inquisitiveness, fostering team spirit, adapting to challenges and thinking beyond the box. These unique concepts will undoubtedly serve as guiding principles for us, as we tread on the path of research.
The success of Workshop 01 has truly set the tone for our entire series. We set out with a mission: to break the boundaries, bring knowledge to the forefront, and ignite the sparks of innovation and the spirit of inquiry within our members. We aspire to push the boundaries of what is considered possible and unlock the full potential within each of us.
We thank Mr. Ruchira Gangahagedara for his exceptional guidance and the participants for their enthusiastic engagement. This is just the beginning of our “Inquisitive Minds” journey, and we look forward to many more such enlightening and transformative workshops.
