The Trinity College Weightlifting team started their year late in 2019 but with a bang!
The team was unable to participate in events earlier this year and this was their first one for 2019.
The Kandy District Weightlifting Championship was held at the Kandy YMCA on the 20th of September.
The Weightlifting Team, one of the most successful teams at Trinity in its recent past, put in a lot of hard work which helped them shine.
Gold medalists at the meet were as follows:

Udara Thilakarathne (67kg)
Reshan Karawita (73kg)
Kevin Gamage (81kg)
Esanda Bodhinarayana (96kg)
S. Ladhushagar (102kg)
Prabash Jayasuriya (109kg+)
The following lifters won Silver:
Yasan Kavisindu (55kg)
Shanna Kamburugamuwa (61kg)
Thamindu Perera (67kg)
Bulitha Epitawatte (89kg)
Bronze were won by the following lifters:
Rahul Jayaram (81kg)
Kevin Dias (89kg)
Kishon Jayarathne (96kg)
Lionsman Kevin Gamage was awarded the ‘Best Lifter’ for his exceptional display in both the Snatch, and Clean and Jerk.
The team led by Prabash Jayasuriya and his deputy Esanda Bodhinarayana look forward to their next challenge which is the All Island Schools Weightlifting Championship. The team will look to win the title that they won last year.
