Every year on the last Wednesday of the third term, a significant event in the Trinity Calendar occurs. The Junior School Prize Giving is an event organised to recognise high achievers in both academics and co-curricular activities. It has been a tradition at Trinity for over a century. This year, it was held on December 14th at the College Main Hall.
Dr. and Mrs. Gihan Abeywardena, an old Trinitian and consulting psychiatrist, were the special guests for the occasion. The Junior School Drum and Dance Troupe accompanied them to the main hall. Master Seth Harischandra and Master Menul Siriwardhane took delight in welcoming Dr. and Mrs. Gihan Abeywardena after the grand yell.
Our chaplain led the opening prayer for the day. Mr. Marasinghe, our Co-Vice Principal, then presented his report. Following their address, Dr. and Dr. (Mrs.) Gihan Abeywardena were asked to give the prizes for the first half, while Mrs. C. P. K. De Tissera, the Junior School coordinator, read the prize list.
The wonderful day full of praise and glee came to an end with the presentation of the vote of thanks by Master Vidun Rathnayake.
