Trinity College, Kandy emerged champions at the ‘Designing Solutions for Impact’ competition, held on 25 September at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), in collaboration with the University of Queensland, Australia. The event brought together school teams from across Sri Lanka to showcase their creativity and innovative solutions to real-world challenges. Trinity placed first among over 40 participating schools from around the country.

The competition began over a month earlier, with video entries submitted for the preliminary round. From these, 10 teams were shortlisted for the finals. Professors from the University of Queensland also conducted an interactive workshop to help students further develop their skills in the fields of business and entrepreneurship.

Each team was asked to create and present a business idea, which was judged on originality, sustainability, feasibility, and overall presentation. It proved to be a challenging and inspiring experience, encouraging participants to think both creatively and practically. According to the judges, Trinity’s idea stood out as the most sustainable among the finalists, and was praised for its uniqueness and innovation.

Representing Trinity were Master Chaniru Senhas, Master Rehan Anandakumar, and Master Chirath Jayasinghe, under the guidance of Masters-in-Charge Mr Chathura Subhawickrama and Mr Wasana Dissanayake. Gateway College, Colombo secured second place, followed by Hijaz International School in third. We warmly congratulate both schools on their strong performances and commendable ideas.

Trinity College sincerely thanks SLIIT and the University of Queensland for organising and hosting this enriching initiative.

This achievement highlights the creativity and teamwork of our students, along with the steady support of our teachers. It’s another example of how Trinity encourages us to grow — not only in our studies, but in real-world skills and ideas too.
