We have had many interesting scientific experiments carried out the Kindergarten throughout this year. There were experiments on static charge and observing how air released from a balloon can move an object along with exploring the uses of a magnifying glass.
This time they looked at the behaviours of water. The experiments with water are a part of the Grade 1 syllabus and the students and teachers enjoyed doing them in their classrooms.
The experiments were based on:
- Movement of water
- Solubility
- States of water
- Making secondary colours by mixing the basic colours
The boys conducted these experiments by themselves, with the teachers guidance, as they explored the wonders of science.
“Wow! Teacher, I want to go next”
The students were beyond excitement, and they continued these exciting experiments even after going home. The smartboards in the classes also played a major role in these activities as the students were able to watch few videos on water related experiments.
The next lesson on the calendar for Kindergarten would be on the “Food we eat”. The teachers and the children are looking forward to preparing an easy snack in class, and having a meal consisting of all nutrients.
States of water
While the students were already aware of ice, liquid and vapour, they also realised that water behaves differently according to its temperature through this experiment:
Levels of water
Another completely new experience for the students was to experiment and see that different water levels changes the sound and that water can also make music!
Following is a video of Grade 1C students experimenting on the levels of water:
