Symmetry is when something looks the same on both sides of a line. You can find symmetry in many things, like butterflies, flowers, and shapes. One way to make symmetrical art is to use paint and paper.
This Art Activity is so much fun for all ages to do! They will love being able to create half a picture to “magically” watch the other half appear!
Children love to ooze and squish things and so this type of painting is perfect for them. It teaches them about basic symmetry and colour, while encouraging them to look at their
paintings in detail.
Symmetry is a part of geometry and can therefore be introduced in early childhood, which will build early maths skills.
The other wonderful thing about this symmetry art activity is that it is ready to go in just a few moments of time.
In this Issue
Students were thrilled to learn symmetry with paint. They absolutely loved the mystery and anticipation that came with revealing the painting.
Would your child enjoy this approach to painting?
