For over two and a half decades, the Junior School Oriental Music Group has captivated audiences with their enchanting melodies and vibrant performances.
This year marked a historic moment in their journey as students of Grades 4 and 5 graced the stage for the first time in the 26th Annual Music Festival. The event was held on August 7, 2023, at the New Town Hall in Colombo and was hosted by the Sri Lanka Festival of Music, Dance, and Speech.
In a stunning display of talent, the Grade 5 Oriental Music ensemble emerged All-Island Winners. Their exceptional performance earned them not only the admiration of the audience but also the “Somapala Memorial Trophy for the Best Oriental Choir [Junior Choir Popular Songs (Sinhalese)].”
Meanwhile, the Grade 4 group presented their musical expertise emerging among the All – Island Finalists.
