Sri Lanka Schools’ Under 19 Cricket Awards 2023, organised by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket, was held on 17th of October, at the Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). This event commemorated commendable achievements of emerging cricket players in schools all over the Island.
Among these aspiring young men, the Trinitians crowned themselves pride, with the following achievements:
- Master Dinuka Tennakoon was presented with the All-Island Best Bowler award – Under 19 Division 1 Tier A Tournament 2023.
- Trinity College Kandy was recognised as the Best Provincial Team of the Central Province.
- Besides, our Alma Mater received the award for the Under 19 Division 1 Tier A Limited Overs Tournament Championship
- Last, but not least we received the award for the Under 19 Division 1 Tier A Two-Day Tournament Joint Championship.
Trinity celebrated the double championship after a lapse of eleven years under the captaincy of Rahal Amarasinghe: the last double championship was during the cricket season 2011/12 under the captaincy of Niroshan Dickwella.
These awards serve as a testament to the unwavering dedication displayed by our Cricket team over the past year. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the team, as well as to the Head Coach, Mr. Naveen Ekanayake, Assistant Coach, Mr. Lakshitha Alahakoon, Trainer, Mr. Bandula Pushpakumara, Physiotherapist, Mr. Lasantha Bandara Herath, and Master-in-Charge, Mr. Bryan Senaratne, for achieving these significant milestones within the sport and adding glory to Trinity’s Cricket history.
