Defining Great Physique

The much anticipated Mr. Trinity 2024 competition, organized by the Physical Culture Club of Trinity College, took place on the 18th of October at the College Main Hall. This iconic event, which first started in 1985, continues to highlight the endurance, strength, and discipline of young athletes, making it one of the most celebrated events in the college calendar. The powerlifting meet, a crucial segment of the Mr. Trinity competition, was held earlier on the 14th of October at the College Gymnasium. 

The Chief Guest for the main event, the distinguished Dr. Senthil Chandrasekaram, graced the occasion at 4 PM. Formerly the head of Kandy Hospital’s emergency department, Dr. Chandrasekaram is a popular physician who practices at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.  
 
Powerlifting Meet 

The powerlifting meet, an essential segment of the Mr. Trinity event, set the stage for an exciting display of strength and endurance. Competitors faced off in three categories: squat, bench press, and deadlift. The results of the powerlifting meet were as follows: 

  • Champion Squat: Rushen Bandaranayake (145 kg) 
  • Champion Bench Press: Anuhas Kodithuwakku (112 kg) 
  • Champion Deadlift: Jayaram Haakesh (171 kg) 
  • Champion Powerlifter: N. Tanuj (Total of 425 kg) 

Mr. Trinity Results 
 
The evening of October 18th was the culmination of months of preparation and training for the participants. Competitors from various age groups and weight categories took to the stage, demonstrating not only their physical strength but also their unwavering commitment to fitness and the art of bodybuilding. The event was divided into multiple categories, with each contestant displaying their hard work and discipline. 

Titles 

A highlight of the event was the special awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in bodybuilding: 

  • Mr. Trinity & Most Muscular Boy: Manula Dullewa 
  • Junior Mr. Trinity: Bilal Nazeer 
  • Best Poser: Sajeer Umer 

 
 
Manula Dullewa, who was crowned Mr. Trinity 2024, displayed not just physical strength but also impressive muscle definition and control, earning him the title of “Most Muscular Boy.” Meanwhile, Bilal Nazeer was recognized as Junior Mr. Trinity for his excellent performance in the Under 17 category, particularly in the 70 kg weight division. Sajeer Umer’s graceful and confident poses won him the Best Poser award, captivating the audience and judges alike. 
 

The expertise and wisdom of a renowned panel of judges, who contributed to Mr. Trinity 2024, guaranteed the event’s credibility and success. A huge thank you goes towards:

  • Mr.Nilupul Rathnayake 

 
 
In addition, the success of Mr. Trinity 2024 was a result of months of planning, training, and collaboration. The Physical Culture Club members, under the guidance of instructor Mr. Manjula Wijerathne and Master-In-Charge Mr. Hasitha Nishshankaarachchi, worked tirelessly to organize the event. Their efforts ensured a smooth, engaging, and professional competition, that will be remembered for years to come. 

Mr. Trinity 2024 was more than just a bodybuilding competition; it was a celebration of strength, perseverance, and the spirit of sportsmanship. Each participant brought their best to the stage, inspiring the audience with their discipline and hard work. From the powerlifting meet to the final poses, the event was a showcase of what can be achieved through perseverance. 

As we look forward to next year’s competition, we commend all the athletes who participated, as well as those who took home titles and special awards. Their achievements are a reminder of the incredible potential within every individual who is willing to push their limits. Congratulations to all, and cheers to the continued tradition of excellence at Trinity College Kandy!
