The Under 18 Boys’ Table Tennis team from Trinity College Kandy secured 3rd place at the 2024 All Island National School Games held at the Ban2daragama Indoor Stadium on the 3rd and 4th of November.
After a strong run as the Central Province Champions, Trinity College faced a tough semi-final at the final stage against Ananda College Colombo, narrowly losing 2-3. However, they bounced back in the 3rd place play-off, defeating Dharmashoka College Ambalangoda 3-1 to claim the bronze medal.

A standout moment for Trinity College was the exceptional performance of Master Shafiullah Akram, who became the Under 20 Individual Champion. In the semi-finals, Akram defeated Janith Batugedara of Royal College Colombo 3-2, and in the finals, he triumphed over Diran Hamer of Royal College Colombo 3-0. His dominant performance earned him the title of Best Player of the Tournament, further solidifying his reputation as one of Sri Lanka’s top young table tennis players.
A big thank you goes out to Mr. Sampath Kumara, the coach, for his guidance and support, as well as to Master in Charge Mr. Naveen Abeysekara and Mr. Jagath Kalugampitiya for their invaluable contributions to the team’s success.
This success marks a proud moment for Trinity College Kandy, highlighting both the team’s collective achievement and Akram’s individual excellence.
