After a nine-year break, the Inter-House Tamil Drama Competition returned in 2025, welcomed by students with enthusiasm and anticipation. The event, which offers a space for creativity and collaboration, once again brought attention to the value of language, culture, and performance at College.
It also served as a reminder of the importance of preserving our linguistic and cultural traditions. The dramas were assessed by a panel of judges: Mr T. Sivakumar, Mr N. Lalithkumar, and Mrs R. Priyadharshini.
Junior House Performances – 14th August
Five captivating dramas were presented by the Junior Houses, each prepared under the guidance of dedicated mentors. The plays included:
- தப்பி வந்த தாடி ஆடு – பேராசிரியர் சி. மௌனகுரு (Squealery House)
- வேடனை உச்சிய வெள்ளைப் புறாக்கள் – பேராசிரியர் சி. மௌனகுரு (Gibson House)
- பஞ்ச வர்ண நரியார் – குழந்தை ம. சண்முகலிங்கம் (Pilcher House)
- முன்னொரு காலத்திலே – பாலசுகுமார் (Saunders House)
- கூடி விளையாடு பாப்பா – குழந்தை ம. சண்முகலிங்கம் (Sahayam House)
Squealery House secured 1st place with a vibrant and well-received performance, followed by Pilcher House in 2nd place and Gibson House in 3rd. Sahayam House and Saunders House were placed 4th and 5th respectively, each delivering commendable efforts that reflected the students’ enthusiasm and commitment to the art.
The Best Actor award was presented to Master I.A.S. Anaam of Squealery House, while Master S. Vaishnavan of Pilcher House was recognised as Best Actress for his role.
Senior House Performances – 15th August
The Senior Houses took to the stage the following day with performances that showcased remarkable depth and expression. The plays presented were:
- அன்றில் பறவைகள் – அகளங்கன் (Lemuel House)
- சர்வதேச அடிமைகள் – கந்தையா பறீ கணேசன் (Oorloff House)
- எவடம் எவடம் புங்கடி புளியடி – பாலசுகுமார் (Simithraaratchy House)
- நம்மைப் பிடித்த பிசாசுகள் – பேராசிரியர் சி. மௌனகுரு (Central Boarding House)
- புழுவாய் மரமாகி – குழந்தை ம. சண்முகலிங்கம் (Garret House)
Lemuel House emerged victorious with a standout performance, followed by Central Boarding House in 2nd place and Simithraaratchy House in 3rd. Garret House placed 4th and Oorloff House 5th, each contributing meaningfully to the spirit of the competition.
Master Kanishkar Krishnakumar and Master Suhail Siraj of Lemuel House were awarded Best Actor and Best Actress respectively for their exceptional portrayals.
A special note of appreciation is extended to the Trinity College Art for Life Aesthetic Forum and the school administration for their invaluable support in organising this memorable event. The teachers’ dedicated mentorship, paired with the students’ enthusiasm, ensured that this year’s Tamil Drama Competition was both meaningful and inspiring.
