Kindergarten Vesak card competition

The Kindergarten held its annual ‘Vesak Card Competition’ on Friday, 24th of May 2019. This was another signal event of the Kindergarten’s term 2 calendar.

All the students were encouraged to take part in the competition regardless of their religion, and the teachers at the Kindergarten taught the students how to design the cards by showing them various designs on the classroom smartboards.

Students were given 40 minutes to draw and colour the cards. They were seen confidently putting their creative ideas on paper. The completed cards were then handed over to the Art teacher to choose the winners.

The cards of the winners were then displayed at the Junior School entrance.

Since this exercise was done to improve the creativity among the students and build up their understanding of comparative religion, the class teachers made arrangements to display the remaining cards in their respective classrooms.

The winners of this competition also received certificates and prizes by the Co-Vice Principal during the Kindgerarten assembly.

Winners are as follows:

  • Today, we remember the cross.

Set within the Chapel, this Crucifixion mural draws us into the stillness of Good Friday, where sacrifice speaks louder than words, and love is laid bare. In its stark imagery, it reflects suffering willingly embraced, and a love that endured to the very end.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” — John 3:16

For Trinity and every Trinitian, this is more than a moment in history. It is a call to pause, reflect, and to recognise that true strength is found not in power, but in sacrifice, humility, and grace.
