The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Carnatic Music Society was held on 6 April at the Lakshman Kadirgamar Auditorium, with the participation of students, teachers and distinguished guests.
A special highlight of this year’s AGM was the teacher felicitation held in honour of Mrs Varatha Ragunadhan, who served as the Carnatic Music teacher and Teacher-in-Charge of the Society. Her 23 years of dedicated service to the College were recognised through a tribute video presented by the 2026/27 Committee. This was followed by the presentation of a commemorative photo frame and tokens of appreciation from past committees.
The proceedings began with an address by the Past President, Master Abishan Shanthakumar. Mrs Varatha Ragunadhan then delivered her farewell speech, reflecting on her years of service and contribution to the Society.
The newly appointed Teacher-in-Charge, Mr Sivalokarasa Kopikirushna, addressed the gathering and formally introduced the Carnatic Music Society Committee for the 2026/27 term:

The event also featured addresses by the newly elected President, Master Thivaharan Humrushan, Vice Principal Mr Krishanthan Anthonysas, and the Director of TCCEI, Mr Wasana Dissanayake. Their presence added significance to the occasion as the Society marked both a transition and a new chapter.
The AGM concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a final felicitation, celebrating Mrs Ragunadhan’s service while welcoming the new committee for the year ahead.
கர்நாடக இசை மன்றம்: வருடாந்த பொதுக்குழு கூட்டம்
கர்நாடக இசை மன்றத்தின் வருடாந்த பொதுக்கூட்டம் கடந்த ஏப்ரல் 6ஆம் திகதி லட்சுமண் கதிர்காமர் மண்டபத்தில் மாணவர்கள், ஆசிரியர்கள் மற்றும் சிறப்பு விருந்தினர்களின் பங்கேற்புடன் வெற்றிகரமாக நடைபெற்றது.
இவ்வருட பொதுக்கூட்டத்தின் ஒரு முக்கிய சிறப்பம்சமாக, கர்நாடக இசை ஆசிரியராகவும் மன்றத்தின் பொறுப்பாசிரியராகவும் பணியாற்றிய திருமதி வரதா ரகுநாதன் அவர்களுக்கு பாராட்டு விழா நடத்தப்பட்டது. அவரது 23 வருட கால அர்ப்பணிப்புமிக்க சேவையைப் பாராட்டி, 2026/27ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கான செயற்குழுவினால் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட நெஞ்சை நெகிழ வைக்கும் காணொளி அஞ்சலி ஒன்று திரையிடப்பட்டது. அதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, அவருக்கு நினைவுப் புகைப்படச் சட்டமும், பழைய செயற்குழுக்களின் பாராட்டுப் பரிசில்களும் வழங்கி கௌரவிக்கப்பட்டன.
இந்நிகழ்வின் உரையாடல்கள் வரிசையில், முதலில் முன்னாள் தலைவர் செல்வன் அபிஷன் சாந்தகுமார் தனது உரையை நிகழ்த்தினார். இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, திருமதி வரதா ரகுநாதன் அவர்கள் தனது மன்றத்துடனான பயணம் மற்றும் பங்களிப்புகள் குறித்த விடைபெறும் உரையை வழங்கினார்.
பின்னர், புதிய பொறுப்பாசிரியராக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள திரு. சிவலோகராசா கோபிகிருஷ்ணா அவர்கள் சபையினரிடையே உரையாற்றியதுடன், 2026/27ஆம் ஆண்டிற்கான கர்நாடக இசை மன்றத்தின் புதிய செயற்குழுவினரையும் உத்தியோகபூர்வமாக அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார்.
இந்நிகழ்வில் புதிதாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள தலைவர் செல்வன் தி. ஹம்ருஷன், உப அதிபர் திரு. கிரிஷாந்தன் அந்தோனிதாஸ் மற்றும் இணைப்பாட விதான செயற்பாடுகள் பணிப்பாளர் (TCCEI) திரு. வாசனா திஸாநாயக்க ஆகியோரின் உரைகளும் இடம்பெற்றன. இவர்களின் வருகை இந்நிகழ்விற்கு பெரும் முக்கியத்துவத்தை சேர்த்திருந்தது.
வருடாந்த பொதுக்கூட்டமானது இறுதிப் பாராட்டுக்களுடன் கோலாகலமாக நிறைவடைந்ததுடன், இது கர்நாடக இசை மன்றத்தின் ஓர் முடிவையும் புதியதோர் ஆரம்பத்தையும் குறிப்பதாக அமைந்தது
