Two classes, from grades 1 and 2, of the Kindergarten visited Elders’ Home at Mahaiyawa each day from 8th to 12th of October.
This marked another chapter in the social commitment of young boys at Trinity. The programme coincided with an exhibition the elders had organized and the boys were given the opportunity to explore the wonderful handicrafts during the course of their visits to the home.
With the help of their parents students from each class had collected a much needed item for the residents of the elders’ home. They set off each morning and walked all the way to the home. It was very touching to see the students interacting with the residents and they kept everyone entertained by singing and dancing. Finally, they bid farewell to the elders and walked back to College.
The Kindergarten encourages boys to learn about society and engage in community service from a young age.
