I’m thrilled to share that our team, Trinity Syntax from Trinity College Kandy, emerged as champions at Idealize 2024 with our innovative project, Agriconnect. The event, organized by AIESEC at the University of Moratuwa, attracted over 1,800 participants from across Sri Lanka. After months of intense preparation, we were proud to be one of only three school teams that made it to the grand finals on September 15 at Horizon Campus, Malabe.
Agriconnect is a digital platform designed to transform Sri Lanka’s agricultural landscape. It provides farmers with real-time data, predictive analytics, and market trends to help them make informed decisions. From selecting the best crops for each season to forecasting yields and managing resources efficiently, Agriconnect equips producers with the tools they need to boost productivity and reduce waste. The user-friendly interface and timely information we integrated were key features that impressed the judges.
Our journey to the finals was challenging, consisting of five rigorous rounds that tested our technical skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. We showcased our strengths throughout the competition, culminating in a high-stakes 12-minute pitch where we demonstrated Agriconnect’s real-world impact and long-term potential. Presenting a fully developed prototype illustrated how our platform can empower agricultural producers across the country.
As a team of three committed members – myself as the team leader and lead developer, alongside Shahrukh Fairooz and Disalana Jayasooriya – we relied on our collective efforts and creative approach to tackle significant challenges in Sri Lanka’s agriculture sector.
I am incredibly grateful for the guidance and support of Mr. Wasana Dissanayake, as this achievement wouldn’t have been possible without his invaluable advice. With Agriconnect ready to make a significant impact in the agricultural industry, we’re excited about the future and the opportunities that lie ahead!
