The Basketball team of Trinity College Kandy participated in the Under 20 Provincial Level knockout basketball tournament held from the 12th to the 14th of May at St. Anthony’s Girls Convent, Katugastota. Basketball teams from Gateway College, Kingswood College, Azahar College, Wesswood College, St. Sylvester’s College and Ratnayake college participated in this event.
The Trinity team played their first match against Ratnayake College and won 52 – 09. They then went on to win the semi final match played against St. Sylvester’s College by posting a score of 57 – 11.
The final match was played by Gateway College Kandy and Trinity College Kandy. After a hard fought game, Gateway College became the winners of the tournament with a score of 50 to 46.
Our sincere congratulations go to the Under -20 Basketball team of Trinity College for their excellent performance throughout the season. A special mention must be made about the guidance and support of the Basketball coach who gave the team a new structure and led them throughout the season, and we hope to see more of their excellent performance throughout this year and the next.
