Thrithva Ranga 2019 – Reviewed

Thrithva Ranga is the ultimate display of talent at Trinity College, with items of song, dance and drama, put on by the School Officers’ Guild as an annual production. It recognizes the sacrifice and effort made by the School Officers throughout the year in their task of maintaining order, discipline and the values of the school, and allows them to showcase their many talents to their audience.

The latest iteration of this show, Thrithva Ranga 2019 was held on Tuesday the 17th of December at the Trinity College Main Hall at 6 pm, after an absence of one year. The event was attended by members of the College administration, staff, invitees, parents and students of the school.

The atmosphere was lively, a stark difference to most events held at school but one that has become a hallmark of ‘TR’. The audience made their feelings known at times and became a source of entertainment themselves, while at the same time maintaining a friendly atmosphere.

Another hallmark of Thrithva Ranga is the skit, or the story told through both stage acts and videos throughout the show with members of the Guild as actors. Featuring as per tradition the Senior Prefect as the main character, supported by both Prefects and School Officers the skit was well received, and can be viewed on YouTube soon.

Several items of the evening were musical, including the ‘Blend’, a stunning combination of multiple instruments and musical genres, which is one of the most popular features of the night. Sinhala and English songs were also featured, by both solo artists and groups.

Of course, the dance items cannot be forgotten, with Western and Indian dance becoming part of the night’s events. With vibrant colours, music and well choreographed moves those involved made sure that they made an impact on their audience.

The School Officers Guild would like to extend their thanks to all those who helped organize this event, whether through sponsorship or by providing services for the event. They would also like to thank Mr Moragoda and his crew, for all their help with filming and producing the skit and their guidance in other acts.
