On Saturday, 21st June, Dribble 2025, a thrilling 3×3 basketball tournament, set the courts of Trinity College Kandy alight, bringing together energy, excitement, and raw talent from across the island. Organised by the Interact Clubs of Trinity College and Hillwood College, this electrifying event was the result of months of meticulous planning, coordination, and dedication from both organising committees.
The tournament followed a 3×3 format, with four players per team, three on the court at a time and one as a substitute. It featured three main categories: Under 16 Boys & Girls, Under 18 Boys & Girls, and an Open category. Across all age groups, the competition saw a massive turnout, with over a hundred participants representing various schools and clubs from around Sri Lanka. The Open category even featured national-level players, raising the level of competition and intensity.
In the Under 16 category, players competed fiercely for trophies and medals, providing an excellent platform for young talent to shine. The Under 18 category saw cash prizes awarded: Rs. 12,000 for 1st place, Rs. 8,000 for 2nd place, and Rs. 6,000 for 3rd place, for both boys and girls.
The Open Women’s category offered Rs. 30,000 for the champions, Rs. 20,000 for 2nd place, and Rs. 10,000 for 3rd place. Meanwhile, the Open Men’s category had the highest stakes, with a substantial Rs. 50,000 awarded to the 1st place winners, Rs. 30,000 to 2nd place, and Rs. 15,000 for 3rd place.
While there were a few rain interruptions during the day, the Interact Committees ensured the weather did not dampen the spirit. With quick thinking and great teamwork, they pulled off what can only be described as a seamless event. The courts echoed with cheers, fast breaks, and buzzer beaters, making it an action-packed day from start to finish.
Dribble 2025 wasn’t just a sporting event; it was a celebration of passion, unity, and youth-led leadership. It also stood as a proud reminder of what students can achieve when they come together with a shared vision.
We were honoured to have Mr. Susil Udukumgura, Head Basketball Coach of both Trinity College and Hillwood College, grace the occasion. The event was further enriched by the presence of few Rotarians: Rtn. Avanti Karunarathne, Rtn. Capt. Ravindra Tammita, and Rtn. Madhavi Wanigasekara. Among the other distinguished guests were Mrs. Asha Vidanapathirana, Mr. Wasana Dissanayake, Mrs. Agra Ratnayake (Teacher-in-Charge of the Interact Club of Trinity College), Mrs. Surini Galagoda (Teacher-in-Charge of the Interact Club of Hillwood College), and Mrs. Navodini Ranasinghe. Their support and presence added immense value to this landmark event.
The Interact Clubs of Trinity College and Hillwood College extend their heartfelt gratitude to the principals of both schools, the Chief Guest, all dignitaries, and every single participant and supporter who made Dribble 2025 a memorable success.
