Adding more victory to this Victorious year of the Trinity College Western Music Society, they once again showed their outstanding performance in a National arena at the “Sri Lanka Festival of Music, Dance and Speech 2022”, organised by the International Institute of Music, Speech and Drama (IIMSD).
The festival was held on the 5th of November, 2022, at the New Town hall, Colombo 7. The Sri Lanka Festival of 2022 held significance to the Western Music Society as it marked 25 years of participation and victory since first competing in 2006. The momentousness of the year got intensified as the two Choral groups, junior and senior, showed “Outstanding Performance”, both technically and artistically, owing to the commitment of the students, teachers and the Grace of God.
Awards Won,
- The Junior Choral group won the Joy Ferdinando Memorial Trophy for Best outstanding performance along with the GJ Walter Silva Memorial Trophy for “Best Overall choir (under 19 years)” and showed outstanding performance at the Intermediate choir- popular songs category (11 – 14 years)
- The Senior Choral group participated in the “Religious Choir” category, where they got endowed with “Best Religious Choir” at the Sri Lanka Festival Senior religious songs.
The two Choral groups achieved the highest scores in the entire competition, with the Junior Choral group gaining 91 points and the Senior Choral group obtaining 90 points.

We extend our congratulations to the Trinity College Western music society for their achievements in this victorious year which brought honour and glory to God Almighty and our Alma Mater in her Sesquicentennial year. We express our appreciation, to the Teachers in-charge, Mrs Chryshanthi Cabral Surendrakumar, Mrs Krishni George, Ms Ridmi Weerasinghe, and Ms Shayanika Perera, for their guidance and dedication.
