The little chefs from the Kindergarten

The Kindergarten had their food programme across 5th, 6th, 11th and 12th July, 2019.

Grade 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D classes were taken on a picnic to the Chapel lawn, and 1E organized a special food meal in their classroom.

Food means happy faces!

At the short interval bell the smiles on the children’s faces grew wider as they knew they would go out on a “yummy” picnic. The young boys put their drawstring bags over their shoulders and taking some woven mats , went out of the classroom.

A march to the Chapel

The boys stood in line waiting for their teachers to escort them. They marched along like little soldiers, joining their friends from the neighbouring classes, and went up the stairs towards the Chapel.

As they caught sight of the magnificent building, their teacher explained the importance of the Chapel in school life.

Buns, jam and sandwiches!

On the Chapel lawn the boys took their woven mats and laid them near the pond. After they settled down, the teachers gave them jam and buns with a glass of fruit juice.

They also had sandwiches and cutlets, and the boys enjoyed each other’s company as well as beautiful the surrounding.

A small friend from the Chapel pond

After their picnic the boys gathered around the pond to get a closer look at their croaking friend, and watched a  little frog on a lotus leaf with great enthusiasm. And right after that, the boys helped the teachers to pack up everything. It was time for them to say goodbye to their little friend and to also to the ‘heavenly’ Chapel.

Grade 1E – a balanced meal

On 5th and 6th July, we had Grade 1E making a ‘balanced meal’ in their own classroom with traditional Sri Lankan food:

As shown in the pictures, the little chefs from the Kindergarten too the opportunity to share their food with an Army officer and the two security guards near the Junior School entrance gate.

Grade 1A – muffins and cutlets with juice

Grade 1C – club sandwiches

The little chefs from Grade 1C also made their own club sandwiches in their class:

  • Today, we remember the cross.

Set within the Chapel, this Crucifixion mural draws us into the stillness of Good Friday, where sacrifice speaks louder than words, and love is laid bare. In its stark imagery, it reflects suffering willingly embraced, and a love that endured to the very end.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” — John 3:16

For Trinity and every Trinitian, this is more than a moment in history. It is a call to pause, reflect, and to recognise that true strength is found not in power, but in sacrifice, humility, and grace.
