Are braids a style or a form of Art?
Braiding or plaiting is made by interlacing three or more yarns or fabric strips, forming a flat or tubular narrow fabric.
It is used as trimming, for belts and is also sewn together to make hats and braided rugs. Flat braids may be used to produce a decorative border effect on garments, home furnishings or may even be folded over raw fabric edges as a finishing method. Soutache is a decorative braid with a herringbone pattern, sometimes used to outline designs. Hats, handbags, and belts can also be made from various braids, including plastic and straw types.
Plaiting, usually used synonymously with braiding, may be used in a more limited sense, applying only to a braids made from such materials as rope and straw.
There is no doubt that arts and crafts are fun activities for kids. Be it coloring with crayons, making miniature statues from clay, folding paper to create fine origami or designing a handmade birthday card, are some of the arts and crafts activities which can enhance the interest of children and exploit their artistic potential.
Braids are not just a style; this craft is a form of art.
