On the 24th of August 2019, the Annual Governor’s visit was held at the Grand Kandyan with the participation of Rotaract Club of Kandy and Rotary Club of Kandy.
A district governor, who is an officer of Rotary International and represents the RI board of directors in the field, leads his/her respective Rotary district. Each governor is nominated by the clubs of his/her district, and elected by all the clubs meeting in the annual RI District Convention held each year.
The District Governor for this year is Rtn Sebastian Karunakaran is the Founder and Chairman of the Pan Audio Group and Chairman of Zion Corporation Singapore.
Mr Karunakaran, who joined Rotary in 1996, has been an active member over the years, holding several key positions at both Board and District level. Appointed the Club President in 2012/2013, he secured the Most Outstanding President Award as well as the Award for the Best Community Service Project.
The agenda began with a video presentation of the projects executed by all Interact Clubs in the Kandy Zone. Followed by a short presentation of the projects carried out by Rotaract Kandy. This was followed by recognition of the best performing clubs and the winners of the master speller competition. Later Rtn PDG Dr. Vijekumaran gave a short oration on the club’s plan for the administrative year.
The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks was delivered by our Asst. Secretary V. Mohandas followed by Rtn Kenneth of Rotaract Club of Kandy.
