The students of Junior School IT Club went on their inaugural annual educational excursion on the 3rd of November 2018. The programme was held at the Computer Engineering Department, University of Peradeniya. The excursion was planned with the guidance of Co-Vice Principal and JS Headmaster Mr A. S. Marasinghe, IT Director Chamira Athauda, and the Junior School IT teachers.
Most of the members of grade 5 IT Club took part in this event. They gained invaluable knowledge and hands-on experience on robotics and especially Arduino boards, where they used the Scratch programming skills learned at school to build and control electronic circuits.
The programme was conducted by Dr Asitha Bandaranayake, the Director of Internet & Communication Services Unit, University of Peradeniya. Important demonstrations carried out by his team of senior students in the computer engineering department. We are extremely grateful for their support and valuable time in taking the initiative in organizing all the logistics.
The Trinity College Junior School IT Club (IT GENIUS) thanks all those who have helped in making this event a success.
