On 11th April 2019, the Social Service Union conducted its annual charity event for the second consecutive year, a “Car Wash” organised to raise funds for the charity work of the union. This was also their first charity event for the year 2019.
It was a pleasure to see many boys (even those who aren’t members of the Social Service Union) being present on site to support this event. Many people came in to wash their vehicles and donated money to the Social Service Union.
The union extends their gratitude to the Principal and the school management for allowing this event to take place at the College car park.
As stated by the Social Service Union, the collected funds will be used to support another thalassemia patient and people who are differently abled and visually handicapped. The members of the union also hopes to support few Sunday school children in rural areas in the country.
Believing that ‘Social service is not only about financially helping those in need’, the members of the union will also be visiting the Bandaranaike Children’s Hospital to interact and to play with the children in the hospital.
In a society where most of the events are organised for recognition and financial income, the Trinity College Social Service Union thrives to build up relationships among people regardless of their caste, class, religion or race and to uphold the values of the society we live in.
We would like to mention and appreciate the effort of the following students who participated and made the ‘car wash’ a successful event:
