A local fair held online – Grade 1, Kindergarten

The Grade 1 students of the Kindergarten conducted a local “Fair (Pola)” through Microsoft Teams in July, 2021.

This ‘Online Fair’ was conducted in order to provide the experience of a salesman and a buyer with related to the Environmental Activities lesson about ‘How our needs are fulfilled’.

The objectives of the lesson were to make students understand those who provide our needs, identify about the activities conducted in a marketplace or a local fair, how to share the items with others, how to supply needed items on our own and to gain a wonderful experience by acting as a buyer or a seller.

The competencies that the students achieved through the lesson were to appreciate the people who provide our needs, to gain knowledge about the activities of a marketplace or a local fair, to understand the necessity of growing food items in the home garden and many more.

Dressing up as sellers

The students were dressed in colourful local garments as sellers and buyers for this event. Some students even sported mustaches and beards.

Getting ready with necessary items

The little sellers had got ready enthusiastically for the online fair by collecting a variety of food items, some with items which are needed in our day-to-day life, with scales to measure, a price list, real money and printed money and even with a name for their shop.

Happy as a seller or a buyer

The students were paired during the session and each student was allowed to act as a seller and a buyer. All the students took part in this event happily and joyfully.

Learning through experience

The students gained knowledge of concepts like value and quantity during this activity. It also allowed the students to broaden their views of a marketplace and to gain experiences about different items that are needed for our day-to-day life.
