“If knowledge is power, then curiosity is the muscle.”
Guided by the light of curiosity, a group of innovative and inquisitive members from the Young Inventors and Research Club participated in a special Awareness Programme and Presentation organised by the Research Unit of Girls’ High School Kandy on the 3rd of March 2025.
The students who participated in this unprecedented opportunity were:

- Sudam Santhush
Countless hours of research by these students resulted in a special research presentation aiming to solve one of the pressing concerns our community faces—specifically here at Trinity: monkeys. The research focused on how monkeys contaminate water sources near our school and ways to prevent it. Evidence showed that monkeys can pollute water by urinating, defecating, or washing food in it, spreading harmful bacteria. To tackle this, the young scientists suggested solutions like fencing off water sources, creating separate drinking areas for monkeys, or even designing a monkey-contamination-proof tap. The research was greatly appreciated by the dignitaries present and undoubtedly inspired the second vital branch of research: action. Action to solve this issue and prevent these near-fatal incidents from hampering and affecting our health and wellbeing.
A special note of appreciation goes to the Teacher-in-Charge, Mrs. Rasika Herath; the Director of the Trinity College Co-Curricular Enrichment Initiative, Mr. Wasana Dissanayake; and all others who supported and guided the future of scientific excellence to explore the unexplored.
