The year started with the welcoming of the Grade 1 students on the 09th of January with a special Entrants’ Service introduced by the Chaplain together with the Choirmaster Mr Lasantha Tennekoon.
Grade 2 students visited Saradiel Village in February and the grade 1 Students were taken to the Rugby Grounds at Pallekelle in March for their Annual Trip.
The former Headmaster Mr P.S. Navarathne & Mrs. Navarathne were the Chief Guests at the Sports Meet which was held on the 27th of March at the Junior School Grounds.
On the 04th of April the Kindergarten (KG) students celebrated the Sinhala & Tamil New Year.
The second term started with a Special Religious Programme for the Buddhist students to celebrate Vesak and thereafter all the students in the KG were given the opportunity to take part in the Vesak card competition.
This year too the Grade 1 students took part in the Rugby Skills Competition which was introduced last year while the grade 2 students took part in the Inter Class Rippa Rugby Competition at the end of June for the 11th consecutive year.
The Half Yearly examination was held in July for the grade 2 students and the grade 1’s enjoyed an outing to the College Farm at Pallekelle during this time.
The highlight of the year was the inaugural Hand Work Exhibition held on the 01st of August in the Kindergarten Section with Former Sectional Head Miss Chandra Algama gracing the occasion as Guest of Honour.
The third term started as usual with the Spell Master Competition for the Grade 2 students.
Students celebrated World Childrens’ Day with a Magic Show and visited the Elders’ Home at Mahaiyawa from the 08th – 12th of October to coincide with the Exhibition they had organized.
This marked another chapter in the social commitment of young Trinitians. Each class collected a much needed item for the residents with the help of their parents and walked all the way to the Elders’ Home from College. They kept everyone entertained by singing and dancing. It was very touching to see the students interacting with the elders.
The KG Annual Swimming Meet was held on the last day of October.
Prof. Asiri Abeygunawardena, Dr. Indika Ratnatilake, Mr. Denham Madena and & Mr. Rajiv Bandaranayake were invited as Guest Speakers at the Open Days held throughout the year for parents.
This year too the students were engaged in producing the Kindergarten Calendar for the forth consecutive year.
The year’s events came to a close for the Kindergarten with the Annual Christmas party. We are extremely proud to mention that this year’s Kindergarten students’ Christmas fund raiser was utilized to handover much needed medical supplies to the ICU Ward of the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Children’s Hospital at Peradeniya.
