Trinity150 – soft opening of the New Classroom block – named after Hilary Abeyratne & Paul Jeyaraj

The New Classroom block was commissioned as the ‘Abeyratne – Jeyaraj Building‘ at a soft opening held in the morning of 12 August 2021.

The occasion was graced by Mr. Paul Jeyaraj, the College Executive Council (CEC), and few selected representatives.

Message from the Principal

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Trinity!

Pray you are well with God’s blessings. This morning we had the “commissioning and blessing of the new Abeyratne – Jeyaraj Building” in the presence of Mr. Paul Jeyaraj, the CEC [College Executive Council], and few selected representatives. This was a “soft opening” for the benefit of the students. The Grand Opening of this Edifice is scheduled for June 2022, as a part of the T150: Sesquicentennial Anniversary College Celebration. All of you will be invited for this mega event.

We anticipated the commissioning of the facility due to the current lack of infrastructure and the felt urgency of having the honoured presence of our dear Mr. Paul Jeyaraj in person. In many ways it is day of great joy for us, as we gift another facility for our dear students – “by Trinitians for Trinitians”. I offer my prayers of thanksgiving for all of you, for your generous contributions, professional expertise, time, and good will. I look forward meeting you all at the Grand Opening. Please stay safe.

  • Today, we remember the cross.

Set within the Chapel, this Crucifixion mural draws us into the stillness of Good Friday, where sacrifice speaks louder than words, and love is laid bare. In its stark imagery, it reflects suffering willingly embraced, and a love that endured to the very end.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son.” — John 3:16

For Trinity and every Trinitian, this is more than a moment in history. It is a call to pause, reflect, and to recognise that true strength is found not in power, but in sacrifice, humility, and grace.
