Our little expressive students had an opportunity to feel the bliss of Christmas with their classmates, within their preferable classroom atmosphere. The students took part in the Christmas Card Competition which was organized internally to inculcate the real and the overwhelming happiness of Christmas which may leave an imprint in their hearts for a long time.
Objectives of the sessions
The objective of the Christmas Card Competition was not prioritized literally as a competition, but was rather aimed at a different perspective. The main objective was to break the monotonous routine of learning, which the students experienced during the pandemic situation and to provide them with a sense of being back at school to take part in an enjoyable activity. The Christmas Card Competition also provided opportunities to develop the fine motor skills of the students, as they learnt how to control the grip of their fingers along with the movement and to express their ideas freely as they designed their own Christmas card. Hence this activity paved the way to create a successful learning ambience.
Expressing the Bliss of Christmas
The students were encouraged to be creative, confident and independent when drawing their artistic image regarding the special insights they perceive during the season of Christmas. Being expressive in Grade 1, includes effectively conveying thoughts or feelings and demonstrating a specific quality or notion, with the help of their pencil and thereafter adding various colours to their drawing. Drawing on a blank piece of paper was a powerful way of expressing student’s imagination and creativity while developing their thinking skills. Through their own imagination, the students created a fresh master piece with what they knew about Christmas.
Opportunities Offered
The Christmas Card Competition offered the students with an opportunity to improve their cognitive skills which enhances the learning process. It also offered them freedom to create something nouvelle, individualistic and unique.
