Message from the Chairman
On behalf of the A&OC, I would like to thank the Trinity fraternity for their support and generosity towards the Trinity150 Project which has resulted in the successful completion of the first two projects under Trinity150, namely Alison House and the new Classroom Block. The Board and the A&OC have now decided to focus their attention on the restoration of Napier House and beatification of the surrounding area (including the quadrangle). The preliminary drawings / proposal for Napier & quadrangle (including the surrounding area) have been completed by the Architect / Consultants, under the guidance of the A&OC and Principal. The proposal and cost estimate has been approved by the A&OC and the Board. The Engineers Cost Estimate for the quadrangle renovation project is
approximately 14mn. The tender process for both projects has commenced under the supervision of the Tender Evaluation Committee (comprising of senior members of College administration and the A&OC). Tenders for both renovation projects have been received and are under evaluation at the moment, with construction to commence in November 2021. We are delighted to state that the TCK Batch of 1991 has generously offered to donate a significant part of the expenses for the quadrangle project.
We hope to convert the first floor of Napier in to a multipurpose area comprising classrooms / labs, meeting areas using temporary / movable partitions for flexibility in usage. The ground floor will be renovated to continue to function as the dining hall / kitchen. The renovation will also stabilise and preserve the building while introducing more light and ventilation where needed. We are hopeful that the work done will preserve the building until the more elaborate boarding house restoration project is undertaken in the future, depending on the success of the rejuvenation of the boarding house culture within the school. The Engineers cost estimate for the Napier House renovation project is approximately Rs. 21mn.
We are hopeful that past Napierites and basketball players will rally round to support this worthy cause to make the Napier House and quadrangle renovation projects a success in time for the 150th year celebrations next year. A detailed proposal for the quadrangle renovation by the Project Architect, Ms Rangaji Jayasekara is attached for your information.
