Trinity Under 20 football players emerged victorious with a score of 04 – 01 playing against Jinaraja Boy’s College, Gampola at the knockout round of Sri lanka Schools’ Football Association Tournament. The football match was held on 22nd of December at the Pallekele Rugby Stadium. Goal scorers at the Under 20 game were Master Mohammed Shan (2 goals) and Master Yevan Hulangamuwa ( 1 goal). The Junior National Badminton Championship 2022 (Kandy Zone) was held from 12th of December to 21st of December at the St. Anthony’s Indoor Stadium and Municipal Indoor Stadium, Kandy. More than 10 schools from the Kandy zone participated during this tournament. The results as follows: Under 13 – Boys Doubles Quarter Finalist: Abrar Akmal & Nethupa Premachandra Under 15 – Boys Singles Champion: Samiru Ranasinghe Runner up: Pawan Dissanayake Under 15 – Boys Doubles Champions: Samiru Ranasinghe and Pawan Dissanayake Under 17 – Boys Singles Champion: Thenula Rathnayaka Under 17 – Boys Doubles Thenula Rathnayaka played alongside a player from Dharmaraja College, Kandy and became runners up. Under 19 Mahen Wijesundara was selected for National Games without playing in this tournament due to his previous stellar performances. Currently he is ranked All Island number one. We are delighted to announce that all the players who participated in the tournament got selected for the Junior National All Island Championship. Trinity emerged winners against Gurukula College, Kelaniya in their Two Day encounter in the U19 Division 1 Inter-School Tournament which was held on 15th and 16th of December at the Trinity College Asgiriya Stadium. Trinity College beat Gurukula College by an innings and 37 runs. Gurukola College won the toss and elected to field first. Trinity College in their first innings went on to score 256/8 runs declared in 70 overs. Supun Waduge scored 57 runs, Manula Kularathne scored 43 runs, Kusal Wijethunga scored 38 runs and Dinusha Pieris scored 34 runs.  Gurukola College batting in their second innings was bowled out for 109 runs in 43.3 overs. Tharana Wimaladharma picked up 3 wickets for 18 runs, Manula Kularathne took 2 wickets for 13 runs, Theeraka Ranathunga took 2 wickets for 17 runs and Dinuka Thennakoon picked up 2 wickets for 30 runs. Trinity College enforced the follow-on against Gurukola College and were bowled out for 110 runs in 32.5 overs. Tharana Wimaladharma showcased an immaculate performance by picking up 8 wickets for 26 runs and Dinuka Thennakoon took 2 wickets for 21. Trinity College won by an innings and 37 runs. The 44th edition of the Observer SLT Mobile School Cricketers of the Year ceremony was held on 15th of December, 2022 at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. The country’s largest conference hall will host close to 800 school cricketers from all round the nation, including the Northern and Eastern Provinces, to witness the recognition of the country’s upcoming cricket stars. The best schoolboy and schoolgirl cricket players from the recently finished 2021-2022 season will be recognized for their dedication over a demanding season. The Trinity College Cricket Team excelled with great performances in the 2021-2022 season and won numerous awards in this year’s ceremony. Trinity College Cricket team was awarded runner up for the Central Province Best School Team 2021/2022. Pawan Pathiraja won the National Best Batsman of the Year award. We congratulate the Trinity 1st XI Cricket team headed by Master Rahal Amarasinghe for a outstanding 2021/2022 season and the coach Mr. Naveen Ekanayake (head coach), Mr. Lakshitha Alahakone (asst. coach), Mr. Lasantha Herath (physio), Mr. Bandula Pushpakumara (trainer) and Master-in-Charge Mr. Bryan Senaratne for their continuous support and guidance. Trinity Under 16 hockey team emerged champions in the Seethadevi Hockey Sevens Tournament held from 17th to 18th of December 2022 at the Trinity College Asgiriya Stadium. In their first group match Trinity Hockey team faced Vidyartha College, Kandy and the won the game with a score of 01 – 00. Their next group game was against Menikdiwela Central College where Trinity won the game with a score of 01 – 00. Progressing through the tournament the team was pitted against Kingswood College, Kandy for the semi-final match. Trinity Hockey team won comfortably with a score line of 02-00 and secured a place in the final. The final match was held on the 18th of December where Trinity Hockey team had to face Dharmaraja College, Kandy. It was a closely contested final but Trinity Hockey team managed to win the game with a score of 03 – 02. In their first group match the Trinity Under 20 football team secured a dominant victory with a score of 13 – 01 playing against St. Anthony’s College, Kandy. Goal scorers at the Under 20 game were Master Mohammed Shan (4 goals), Master Yewan Hulangamuwa (3 goals) and Master Akshee Mahadivulwewa (3 goals), Master Stephen Asher (2 goals) and Master Sharun Ravikumar (1 goal). The second group match was against Sri Sumangala College, Kandy where the Trinity Under 20 football team won with a score of 04 – 01. Goal scorers at the Under 20 game were Master Dev Karavita ( 2 goals), Master Mohammed Shan (1 goal) and Master Pavithran Abhisekh ( 1 goal). The third group match resulted in a draw with a score of 02 – 02 against St.Sylvester’s College, Kandy. In their fourth match the Trinity Under 20 football players emerged victorious against Dharmaraja College, Kandy with a score of 05 – 00. The Trinity College Athletics Team performed exceptionally well at the All Island School Games 2022 and bagged many achievements. The meet was was held at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo from 2nd to the 6th of December, 2022. The Trinity team won number of medals, breaking national and school records during the meet. We are delighted to announce that the Trinity 1XI Cricket team emerged Champions of the U19 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2022/23 Division 1 – Tier A – winning the title after 10 years. Trinity played against Richmond College Galle at the final encounter held today (2 November) at the at Thurston College Stadium, Colombo. Trinity decided to bowl first after winning the toss. The Richmond College team who batted first, managed to score 123 runs in 40 overs and 1 ball. They faced a greater challenge from the Trinity bowlers where only two batsmen were able to cross the 20-run mark. From Trinity, Master Theeraka Ranatunga bowled successfully and managed to take 3 wickets and Jayavi Liyangama took 2 wickets. Trinitians entered the field chasing a winning target of 124 runs and managed to score 46 runs for the first wicket. Master Rahal Amarasinghe, as the opening batsman managed to score 36 runs. At the end of 24 overs, the Trinity College team scored 109 runs for the loss of 4 wickets and the match was stopped due to bad light conditions. Master Theeraka Ranatunga, who remained unbeaten at that time, was able to score 21 runs. Malsha Tharupathy managed to take 3 wickets while bowling. As the match was not fit for resumption due to weather, the decision was given according to the Duckworth and Lewis theory, and Trinity won by 41 runs. The Inter-Class Rugby Tournament 2022 was held on the 16th, 17th and 18th of November 2022 at the Junior School ground in the presence of the Principal, Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB who attended the event as the Chief Guest. It was an action-packed tournament which showcased the talents of many young Trinitians. We are pleased to announce the appointment of the following students who will take leadership of the Table Tennis Team for the year 2022. Captain – Master Aqib Rumaiz Vice Captain – Master Chathwara Weerasinghe Aqib Rumaiz Aqib Rumaiz started Table Tennis when he was in Grade 5 under the guidance of Mr. D.M.G.S. Kumara. He featured several times in the team where Trinity won the annual Trinity-Thomian Table Tennis encounter.  Aqib headed the under 14 team where Trinity won 3rd place in the All Island Inter-Schools tournament. He was awarded as the TCK Table Tennis player of the year – Junior in 2018.  He represented college in All Island Inter-School Table Tennis Tournaments and has received three star performances.  Chathwara Weerasinghe Chathwara Weerasinghe started Table Tennis when he was in Grade 6 under the guidance of Mr. D.M.G.S. Kumara. He became runners-up at the Central Province semi government schools championship. Chathwara has represented College in several All Island Table Tennis Tournaments, where he has excelled. 
We are delighted to announce that the Trinity College 1st XI team emerged winners in the semi final match played against St. Anthony’s College, Kandy at the Thurstan College ground Colombo. Trinity College beat  St. Anthony’s College, Kandy by 2 wickets. St. Anthony’s College, Kandy scored 202/6 in 50 overs. Vibhavith Ehelepola picked up 2 wickets for 27 and Theeraka Ranathunga picked up 2 wickets for 31 runs. Trinity College chased down the target by scoring 204/8 in 49.2 overs. Theeraka Ranathunga scored 57 runs, Wathila Udara scored 37 runs, Dinusha Pieris scored 29 runs and Rahal Amarasinghe scored 23 runs. Trinity 1st XI team advanced to the final round of the Under 19 Division 1 Tier A One Day tournament and will be facing Richmond College, Galle on 2nd of December, at Police Park Grounds, Colombo. We are pleased to announce the appointment of the following students who will take leadership of the Rifle Shooting Team for the year 2023. Captain – Master Yohan Piyathilaka Vice Captain – Master Rithmika Karunarathne Yohan Piyathilaka Yohan Piyathilaka is a right-handed shooter who started air rifle shooting back in 2018 under the guidance of Mr. Indrarathna Weerasinghe. He was the most junior shooter who was in the college air rifle team at the time. He scored the highest Mean Point of Impact (MPI) in shooting. Rithmika Karunarathne Rithmika Karunarathne joined air rifle shooting back in 2019 under the guidance of Mr. Indrarathna Weerasinghe and continued his way of hard work and discipline while keeping his rate of MPI in a decent value in each test conducted. Rithmika is the only left-handed shooter representing the school, in the college air rifle shooting squad.
Trinity emerged winners against Dharmaraja College, Kandy in their Two Day Traditional match encounter in the U19 Inter-School Tournament 2022/23 which was held on 21st and 22nd of November at the Trinity College Asgiriya Stadium. Trinity College beat Dharmaraja College by innings and 65 runs. Trinity College won the toss and invited Dharmaraja College to bat. On day one, Dharmaraja College was bowled out for 107 runs in 43.1 overs. Vibawith Ehalapola picked up 3 wickets for 24 runs, Tharana Wimaladharma picked up 3 wickets for 25 runs while Supun Waduge took 2 wickets for 2 runs. Trinity College in their first innings went on to score 231 runs in 53 overs. Kusal Wijethunga scored 53 runs, Dinusha Pieris scored 51 runs, Supun Waduge scored 41 runs and Rahal Amarasinghe scored 37 runs.   On Day 2, Dharmaraja College batting in their second innings was bowled out for 59 runs in 23.1 overs. Vibawith Ehalapola took 5 wickets for 21 runs, Manual Kularathne took 3 wickets for 33 runs and Tharana Wimaladharma picked up 2 wickets for 2 runs. Trinity College won by innings and 65 runs. The Trinity College Weightlifting took part in their last meet for the year, the “Junior and Senior National Weightlifting Championship 2022” at the Galewala Sports Complex, Polonnaruwa from 11th – 14th November 2022. Jayewardene Challenge Trophy football encounter held on 25th September 2022 at the Trinity College Rugby Stadium, Pallekele. On September the 26th, the Junior School quadrangle accommodated yet another thrilling tournament: the Inter-House Basketball Tournament 2022.  At 1pm all the energetic Basketball players representing their houses gathered amidst many spectators including excited parents.  The tournament ended with the Junior Boarding House being crowned champions with 42 points. Captain – Master Attaab Manzil Vice Captain – Master Chamendra Dhanapala Attaab Manzil Attaab Manzil is a 3rd year Flyhalf/Fullback player who represented the Trinity 1st XV Rugby Football team in the years 2020, 2021 and 2022. He has also captained the U16 and U18 Sevens Rugby Team. Attaab was awarded with College Rugby Colours in 2022. Chamendra Dhanapala Chamendra Dhanapala represented the 1st XV Rugby Football team in the years 2021 and 2022. He plays as the No. 8 in the team. He has also represented Trinity Rugby in U16, U18 and junior age groups. He was a part of the Dialog Central Province 7 A Side Inter School Rugby Tournament Champion side in 2022. Chamendra was awarded with College Rugby Colors in 2022.
On the 18th of October, cheers and applauding could be heard from the Junior School ground. The Junior School Inter-House Football Tournament took place with the participation of grade 3, 4, and 5 students. Football being another exciting sport at Trinity, the event started upon the arrival of the Co-Vice Principal, Mr. Marasinghe. Parents and school boys were seated in the pavilion supporting their teams. The games consisted of a total of 5 teams representing the 5 houses. 10 games were played. The thundering roar of the immensely enthusiastic young fans and the fanatic parents came to a sudden halt. For a breathtaking second, the Trinity Swimming Complex was swept with a wave of silence. The whistle blew breaking the spell of silence as the swimmers leaped into the still blue waters. The Inter-House Meet for the junior swimmers was held on the 13th of October in the presence of the Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara OSB consisting of a wide range of events, the competition served a primary purpose of identifying youth talent while bolstering a culture of sportsmanship and friendly competition. The fierce rivalries of the five houses were on full display as the day began with the 33m backstroke. Throughout the day many appealing events were held including the 33 1/3 m Freestyle, 33 1/3 m Butterfly, 33 1/3 m Breaststroke,100m Freestyle and the Individual Medley which were all well represented by young and promising sportsmen. The meet also comprised traditional invitational relays for both boys’ and girls’ categories. Mahamaya Girls’ College and Dharmaraja College emerged champions in their respective events while Hillwood College and Kingswood College finished second. The day came to a conclusion with the declaration of Campbell House as the champion house with 159 points to their name, in what was a close and thrilling battle. This year, the Grade 2 Inter Class Rippa Rugby Tournament was held on the 14th of October 2022 at the Junior School Grounds. The objectives of this annually organised tournament is to promote and motivate the potential Junior Rugby players of Trinity College. Eight players from each class were selected and trained for the tournament. Sixteen matches were played during the tournament. The students enjoyed and also showed marvelous skills at these matches. The finals were held between Grade 2A and 2C which ended up as a spectacular and an entertaining match. Grade 2A emerged champions for the year 2022.
